This season's Look-Book
This season’s Look-Book
The fashion world is constantly changing and this season is no exception. Keeping
ahead in fashion is a time consuming business – so we have taken care of the
hard work for you - offering a report on the most popular styles witnessed on the
Autumn/Winter catwalks.
For those who like to stay ahead of the trends, here is a glimpse at this season’s
look-book and the popular styles you can expect to see on your shelves in the
coming months.
The colour purple
The reign of Kate Middleton and the sapphire blue craze that swept the nation has
subsided a little and in its place is another royal colour. Purple has been dominating
the catwalks across Europe and we expect it to be the next big thing to take over the
high street. It’s a lot more rich and flattering than the pastel craze and less formal
and stiff than the royal blue – offering the perfect compromise.
Geometric shapes
Patterns for the coming season are all about order and less about last season’s wild
and chaotic feel. Chunky knits have a particularly strong sense of symmetry to them,
with plenty of warm and comfy jumpers featuring a statement and eye-catching
graphic design.
Add some shine
It’s a trend that has divided some wearers, but the new type of bling for the 2012
season is clothing items with shine. Say farewell to the matte look and instead think
plastic-fantastic jackets, shirts and even trousers!
Psychedelic
In contrast to the geometric shapes, the catwalks have also seen a flurry in the wild
and wonderful world of psychedelic prints. These are perfect when contrasted, so
simple black trousers or high waisted skirts are great options.
For more daring fashionistas, this is also a perfect pattern for the hugely popular
maxi dress.
Fitted frocks
Mad Men fashion is still seeping onto the catwalk and the fitted frocks of the 1950s
are still dominating the trends. Cinched waists and full skirts are stunning in lace and
floral prints and this feminine trend is all about emphasising your curves instead of
trying to hide them.
Peplums are another design shape that’s swept the high street of late, with the
additional fabric offering a flattering line over the hips and waist. This is one trend
we expect to continue for some time.
